I’m not sure you can find a venue as quirky and unique as Coed even if you tried! What makes it so special I hear you ask! It has the most relaxed vibe and it offers a blank canvas to allow you to design the wedding of your dreams. It is diverse yet organic by nature and perfect for a relaxed, rustic, festival or bohemian style wedding. I was over the moon when Harriet ( a wonderfully talented florist and stylist who’s work you can see here) approached me and asked if I wanted to be the Coed weddings and events photographer for a styled shoot she was organising.
Coed is “An exclusive weekend wedding retreat for the conscious minded”! Established in 1997, it has a very relaxed and informal atmosphere. It has been internationally identified as a place for those who want to embrace an off grid way of living in harmony with nature in a sustainable environment or to explore and evolve their connection with themselves in tranquil and peaceful surroundings.
Towards the end of last year, I have been approached by a super talented stylist and asked to be the Coed weddings and events photographer for a styled shoot she was putting together. In case you were wondering, Styled shoots are a collaboration of wedding suppliers to create a small, staged wedding or aspects of one. They are aimed to inspire brides and grooms to be. They are a great way for us creatives to showcase our work and also wonderful networking opportunities within and industry that can often make you feel alone.
Coed weddings and events was the perfect location for Harriets concept and we were extremely lucky that we were able to spend a day there working our magic. I was lucky to meet most suppliers in person on the day. I will talk about them individually as they all deserve a little paragraph in this post!
Let me start with Harriet! The girl with the vision. She gathered an amazing team. She pulled it off! This is how every styled shoot starts : with a little idea.
While I was shooting the bridal bouquet and some creative shots with out model, Liv, harried was working on a beautiful arch. These are usually designed to sit behind the couple during the ceremony. They also create wonderful photo opportunities, of course!
When I got married, 6 years ago, one of the first things on my to do list was finding my dream wedding dress. That extra special outfit I will only wear for one day in my entire life ( even if I wanted to wear it again, I can’t actually fit in it anymore so that’s that). Rachel (www.rachelburgessbridalboutique.com) provided us with not one, but two wonderful gowns. I absolutely loved the simplicity and elegance of her dresses. I think they worked so well with our venue. And of course the look was made complete by the stunning make up done by Liv. (pixiehaircompany)
I absolutely love cake! Who doesn’t, right? Charlotte spoiled us because after the shoot she allowed us to all take some home with us. And I must say, her cakes aren’t just beautiful. They are also very delicious.
The way you style your tables on your wedding day is very important. Attention to detail is key. Allow enough time to think about what goes into this. Colours scheme, table wear, cutlery, stationery, flowers. And the list can go on. It all depends on your taste. Lucy provided us with some high quality and beautiful stationery and Harried worked her magic with the styling.
Coed weddings and events is truly a magical place. If I was to get married, I would 100% choose this venue for a full weekend of celebrations. And of course I would love to return here to shoot a real wedding in the near future! Please do get in touch if you want to find out about what I can offer you as your wedding photographer! I would love to create some magic on your wedding day!
